Living on an island the boat becomes a very important way of life. Traditionally boats were used for transport and fishing. Before the bridge was built connecting the island across the Sound in 1888, boats were the only method of contact with the mainland and so were held in very high regard. My boat sculptures try to reflect this esteem.
